Falling Apart

When I ask, you say that you’re alright
You don’t seem sure, but I think you might be right
I don’t know what we’re supposed to do
But if we’re together then it might just get us through
Can I be the one to hold you when the world’s falling apart?
I promise I’m not leaving you this time
Someone to love, someone to hold
are things that we are never told
Can save you from the darkness of your heart
When I ask, you say that you feel fine
But I’m not sure that I know what’s on your mind
I can help the sad thoughts go away
Through the clouds, I can see there is a clearer day

The Noni Fruit

The noni fruit
it grows where its sunny
it's a healthy food
but it looks kinda funny
and it tastes quite weird.
And it smells weird too.
But it's good for you
The noni fruit
It grows in all seasons
People drink the juice
Do you want to know the reasons?
It's a super-food
an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory too
To name just a few
You don't have to be a hippy
just try a little sippy
of this strange fruit juice
Noni juice is kinda groovy
You can put it in a smoothie
It's the noni fruit!
The noni fruit
from the island of Hawaii
yes it might taste bad
but some regard it highly
for its properties
It's full of potassium,
iron and vitamin C
the noni fruit
the subject of this sonnet
tastes a bit like cheese
or some might say of vomit
But as someone said
If it tastes bad, it must be good for you
So hold your nose and chew
It tasted better when fermented
It's not quite so badly scented
Though some may dispute!
Once fermented use a strainer
it's really a no-brainer
Making noni-juice
Noni juice is highly concentrated
has a funny taste, as I have previously stated
and your tongue goes numb
when you drink it neat
so add some mixer please!
Those who drink this juice
tend to espouse it fervently
Though I must admit
I haven't tried it personally
But I'm curious
just to find out if it tastes as bad as they say
Perhaps some day!
You don't have to be a hippy
just try a little sippy
of this strange fruit juice
Noni juice is kinda groovy
Why not try it in a smoothie?
It's the noni fruit!
Noni fruit are green and yellow
with a taste that's far from mellow
here's it's Latin name:
(are you ready for this?)
its Morinda citrifolia
And that's everything I can tell ya
about the Noni Fruit!

Dear Ruth

Dear Ruth,
I wanted to write you a song about how I feel.
It took time to make it all rhyme and sound right.
Dear Ruth, to tell you the truth, I'd be lost without you, now.
Before you, I managed, but I don't know how.
You showed me patience, love, and you're my greatest friend.
That's why we're here together, 'cause we've got a love that never ends.
Dear Ruth, you do make me smile
with your stories in your inimitable style
when you always ask "why do these things happen to me?"
I know that's an unusual way for me to make my point
what I'm trying to say is that I love you in every possible way.
I hope you're not embarrassed by this song for you
because this is the sort of thing I often do.
You don't remember me the first time that we met.
I guess it wasn't quite our time just yet.
Now we're together and I know we'll be just fine
with all the strengths you've got and mine combined.

Camera Obscura

The painting on the wall
There is no such place at all
Not in all your wildest dreams
Could you picture such a scene
I took the clouds from another sky
Captured with my magic eye
Put them with a Bayswater view
And I made it just for you
It’s not pictorially true
That doesn’t matter much to you
But when all is said and done
A new age has just begun
You can see things as they are
Whether normal or bizarre
Is it fake, or is it true?
I guess I’ll leave that up to you
Please build me a camera
Dear Cornelius
Go my son to Padua
Cumulonimbus
In a lifetime you can do
Of the best things, very few
So listen to these words my son
Don’t give up until it’s done
I can see things as they are
On my Camera Obscura
Separate that which is true
From all the lies I told to you
Camera Obscura
