I Faked The Moon Landing
03:45
|
|||
Dying in my bed, I leaned over and said:
I’ve got one thing left to confess
I got involved with the wrong crowd
helped to create a global mess
So before I turn cold my story must be told.
I faked the moon landing
Thought the purpose I was serving was much higher
but the consequence was dire
I faked the moon landing
Can’t take the world branding me a liar
I need the cleansing fire
Please forgive me
Did you see the photographs?
Faking them was such a laugh
in a old air hangar in the sticks
While the real moon shone at night
we worked beneath the fake stage lights
with our moon dust made from ground-up bricks
That wasn’t Buzz next to the LEM,
just a guy who looked like him
I faked the moon landing
When I cashed the cheque I knew I’d sold my soul
and the years they took their toll
I faked the moon landing
It’s my dying wish to get some closure now
but I’m really not sure how
My memory for the facts isn’t what it used to be
I tried so hard for years to put it behind me
A world got taken in by our conspiracy
I don’t want to that to be my only legacy
Later on that night I woke up with a fright
A silhouette was standing over me
Then a pillow lined with lace came up across my face
I could not breathe, I could not see
I felt my life egress
At least I managed to confess

Hard To Tell
03:37
|
|||
Everybody has a secret
And you might be the one I’d tell mine to
It sounds so simple, to say the words
But you don’t know just what I’m going through
If I say it wrong you’ll read between the lines
Cos it’s hard enough tell myself sometimes
You weren’t here when stuff was happening
Things I didn’t want but couldn’t stop
It took some time but I got a handle
I was worn but somehow managed not to drop
Now you’ve found your way into this heart of mine
And I’m afraid that if I ask you might decline
And if I say it wrong you’ll read between the lines
Cos it’s hard enough tell myself sometimes
I always favour honesty
But it’s much harder when it’s me
I’ve never tried to face up to the past
I’d like to share my life with you
Cos you’re someone I can talk to
I hope this conversation’s not our last
Are you ready for the shortlist of my crimes?
They’re even worse than all these contrived rhymes
If I mess up please don’t read between the lines
Cos it’s hard enough tell myself sometimes

Some people’s lives travel in a straight line
That’s not the way that I want to live mine
Are you random? Are you random like me?
You don’t need displays of heroic action
When time doesn’t behave in a linear fashion
Are you random? Are you random like me?
Randomers
Living outside of the boxes you normally check
Randomers
Saving the world in the way that you’d least expect
Just hanging around like we couldn’t care less
We are the people you can’t second guess
Randomers
So unpredictably randomly cool.
Solutions to problems aren’t all mathematic
Just allow yourself to be more stochastic
Are you random? Are you random like me?
Hickory dickory chicory dock
Just being random around the clock
Are you random? Are you random, baby?
Randomers
Living outside of the boxes you normally check
Randomers
Saving the world in the way that you’d least expect
chaos isn’t problem you see
A randomer draws power from entropy
Randomers
So unpredictably randomly cool.
You can’t guarantee there’ll be damsels to kiss
Being a hero is so hit and miss
The life of a Randomer can be incredibly strange
I wait and accept what each new day presents
Haphazard happenings are frequent events
It’s enough to make perfectly reasonable people deranged.
Randomers
Living outside of the boxes you normally check
Randomers
Saving the world in the way that you’d least expect
So unexplainable, often discussed
Ergodic theory was written for us
Randomers
So unpredictably randomly,
so totally unbelievably,
absolutely and amazingly cool.

4000 Angstroms
04:15
|
|||
No matter how many lonely nights
Spent staring at the sunset
You wont see ultra-violet light
And even if you close your eyes
And see the entire spectrum
You’ll still be sleeping through the night
'cause 4000 angstroms
Is the wavelength that god saw fit for us to see
And you’ll find you’re just like me
That’s all we’re meant to be
No matter how many crazy friends
Believe the same as you do
What about the one that you could lose?
Cos you spend too long arguing
that you are something extra
Being special’s not something you choose
'cause 4000 angstroms
Is the wavelength that god saw fit for us to see
I think you’ll find you’re just like me
That’s all we’re meant to be
4000 angstroms
Beyond that is ultra-violet light
You cant see it all
that’s just not right

Alone
03:40
|
|||
I wrote a song for you, it wasn’t so tough
Everyone’s a poet when they’re broken up
Gazing into nowhere, notebook in hand
Sitting at my baby grand.
I was hoping that we could stay friends
But you said that your patience was at an end
Why don’t you want to see me ever again?
Is a duet out of the question then?
My heart has been broken
Too many times, its just not even funny anymore
Two months since we’ve spoken
I guess I’ll sing this song alone.
You left a hangup on my answerphone
It left me feeling even more alone
No explanation as to why you had called
Was it just to make my palms grow cold?
Now I’m left wondering if there’s any use
When all I get from you is verbal abuse
You even tried to get my friends on your side
What’s the point? I’ve got nothing to hide!
My heart has been broken
Too many times, its just not even funny anymore
Two months since we’ve spoken
I guess I’ll sing this song alone.
My heart has been broken
Too many times, its just not even funny anymore
Two months since we’ve spoken
I guess I’ll sing this song alone.
You’ll hear me sing to you
But I don’t plan to keep on singing solo anymore
I’ll move on, now you’ve gone
You can listen to this song alone

Sell-out Story
02:44
|
|||
You used to hold your head up high
And turn away from those who
Keep others down, who seek the crown
Then you became just like them
Can you look yourself in the eye?
Kiss your self-respect goodbye
Sell out story!
Now you’re on top
You run the shop,
You wear a business suit, and
Everyone must bow
To their leader now
I bet you feel so great, but
Can you look yourself in the eye?
Kissed your self-respect goodbye
Sell out story!
Take whatever you can get
Sold your soul, your mind, and the rest.
Who’s gonna love you now?

Inside The Machine
02:59
|
|||
Inside the machine that makes the music
there’s a microchip that makes the sound
The sound going round inside your body
takes your mind inside the machine
Inside the mind of the music maker
is where the machine was first designed
It was designed to make the music
The music now inside your mind
Take your mind inside the machine
Take the machine wherever you go
Wherever you go, you take the music
Inside the machine
Inside the machine
Inside a room, Inside a factory
there’s a brilliant mind inside of a man
He’s the man that designed the microchip
In his lab, in a factory, in Taiwan

Out There
03:23
|
|||
Calling out over the radio
Has anyone seen this girl?
Has anyone seen this girl?
She loves me for who I am
And laughs at my jokes every time
Did I tell you the latest one?
Did I tell you the latest one?
Will somebody take the time
Help me to find her?
Help me find my one and only
Stop me feeling sad and lonely
You can act like you don’t care
But I know that she’s out there somewhere
Calling my friends on the telephone
Can anyone help me here?
Can anyone help me here?
If you’ve seen this girl then call me now
I’d like it if you’d tell me how
I could meet a girl like this
I could meet a girl like this
Will somebody take the time
Help me to find her?
Help me find my one and only
Stop me feeling sad and lonely
You can act like you don’t care
But I know that she’s out there
If you see her you can call me
I’ll be waiting, patient, calmly
You can laugh, but I don’t care
Cos I know that she’s out there somewhere

Seconds
01:30
|
|||
There were just 5 seconds
then only 4 seconds
now there's just 3 seconds to go
Then those 3 seconds turned into 2 seconds
now there's just 1 second you know
But if those 5 seconds had been 30 seconds
I'd have had more time to do something with those seconds
even though they're only seconds, I'd have spent them all with you.
Time is an illusion, but I've seen how it's done
Just let the seconds pass until you know there's only 1.

I'm OK
02:48
|
|||
I need some breathing time
can’t stand standing in line
just stepped aside a while
don’t treat me like a child
Believe me, I’m OK
Don’t you ever feel this way?
When you’ve got to step away
not run a sprinting pace
just make a little space
I need to get some air

Step Outside
04:34
|
|||
She came and told me that she liked me
And that’s the way I think it should be
Uncomplicated and with honesty
Without a hint of insincerity
And she smiled at me
And then she looked into my eyes
And what I saw there was to my surprise
She wants to step outside with me
To talk and kiss and be
In one another’s company
Come on and ask me
I won’t
No, I won’t say no
We left the party after 3
And danced along an icy road
Together, oh it felt so free
To have someone who loved me
How could this have come at last?
Years of searching in the past
To meet someone as pure as you
And then to find you want me too
She wants to step outside with me
To talk and kiss and be
In one another’s company
Come on and ask me
I won’t
No, I won’t say no

Need
01:59
|
|||
Sometimes we are fast
Sometimes we feel built to last
And sometimes we feel fragile as dust
In our times of need
Someone’s there to intercede
That’s when you’ll find we are at our best
Remember who you are
And who helped you get this far
Those who showed you love
You owe your life
We all need someone who
Can be with us to walk us through
We all have needs and
Someone else needs you.
